David Brooks’ Call for Sanity and Reflection

David Brooks gives a well developed take on the hoopla that has followed the foiled bomb plot, which includes Obama’s rather meaningless declaration of “unacceptability” and Dick Cheney’s unproductive ranting. He also calls into question, very subtly, the centralization of power in the government and the willingness of and zeal with which Americans hand over the responsibility of their personal protection to the federal government.
